Supporting Parkinson Research and Education

On August 16, 2005 David Look (President of Parkinson Support Group of Upstate New York) and Peter Smith (Chairman of PSGUNY 5K Canal Run & Walk) presented a $10,000 donation to the Parkinson's Research Fund at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Accepting for the University was Karl Kieburtz MD, professor of neurology at the U of R.

This donation was raised from the annual Parkinson Canal 5K Run & Walk, sponsored by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and held in April, 2005. The 2006 event is currently scheduled for April 8, 2006. Further details will be available early in 2006.

According to Dr. Kieburtz, this donation will be applied to The Butler Fund operated by the University. The Butler Fund was established in memory of Janet Butler to recruit and support patient-oriented research faculty dedicated to furthering the understanding of Parkinson's disease and advancing treatment options.
