Welcome to PSGUNY
by Donna Testa

Our Parkinson Support Group of Upstate New York (PSGUNY) is a self -help group. It is run by and for people who have in common a challenge in our lives and who are willing to talk freely and to trust the good will of the other group members.

Our PSGUNY is a place to be yourself. The most difficult "step" is walking in the door. The program is about making yourself and others feel welcomed and accepted. It means knowing that your privacy and confidentiality will be respected.

Our support group is a great source of all kinds of information. We are a treasury of practical experience. We are also great collectors of articles, newsletters, books and other information about Parkinson's Disease - and we love to share it with others.

Our support group is an added circle of friends. Here is a place to talk, laugh, and cry about life with PD with those who understand and who will talk, laugh and cry too.

Our PD support group is as unique as its members. The interests and capabilities of each member vary greatly, but all are needed and welcomed.

Our PD support group is growing. Your talents, ideas, interests and participation will help us improve so that we can help each other.

Our support group is an informal, self managed organization of people with PD and care partners who have a common purpose of sharing information and offering mutual support in a spirit of self acceptance. It's a place where other family members and friends can feel welcomed and supported. It's a place to be both needed and empowered in a most meaningful way.

"Hystiocytes in blood, 1300:1"
Photographic inspirations for graphic design 1963

This painting is taken from a Masters Thesis completed by David Bradley "Brad" Smith at RIT.  Brad Smith lived for eight years from his initial diagnosis to his passing in February 1998.  His was a fast decline. He was ultimately bedridden with no medication available to help make his life a bit better. This is my fifth year in helping to raise awareness and money for a cure through research.
