The Parkinson Canal Run Walk returns to Meridian Centre Park - 2025 Winton Rd South in Brighton on Sunday, April 26, 2008. With the continued support from our corporate sponsors and the hard work of our volunteers, we can promises another quality event that everyone will enjoy.

Proceeds from the Parkinson Canal Run Walk, an annual PSGUNY fundraiser, will again be used to fund research and find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease (PD). With our donations we support the University of Rochester (UR); the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF); and the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF).

Runners and walkers may pre-register this year on-line (see link below) for $18 or by mail for $25. Mail in registration forms may be found on this web site (see link below). Registration fees will be waived for runners and walkers if they collect pledges of $100 or more. Race day volunteers are also encouraged to sign up by contacting Judy Taylor at hadrian@rochester.rr.com.

Registration on race day will be $25. Race day registration will begin at 7:30 AM at Meridian Centre Park, with the 5K starting at 9 AM and the 1.5K Walk beginning at 10 AM. Cotton T-Shirts will be given to first 300 Registered Runners or Walkers. Cash prizes of $150, $100 and $50 Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Male and Female Runners, as well as prizes in seven age categories.

Prizes will be also awarded to our walkers in the categories of top individual fundraisers and top fundraising teams. We are asking anyone that plans to attend the Parkinson Run Walk to help in collecting individual donations. A sample fundraising letter is provided on this web site (see link below). We also encourage organizations, workplaces, churches and clubs to form teams. The team captain will collect team donations and register the team. If you’d like, choose a team color, team name or wear unifying T-shirts.
